  • NMPED Summer Reading Program in Laguna Pueblo

New Mexico’s Summer Reading Program, offered through the NMPED Literacy Institute, is a free and innovative opportunity designed to support students from incoming kindergarteners to outgoing eighth graders. This summer, the program will be available right here in Laguna Pueblo and will be led by local Laguna teachers who are trained literacy instructors. Students will receive focused reading instruction in small groups, helping them strengthen their reading skills, build confidence, and foster a love of reading. With engaging activities and personalized support, the program is designed to prevent summer learning loss and set students up for success in the upcoming school year.

  • Explora Summer Program

Explora Science Center & Children’s Museum in Albuquerque is planning to host a two-week summer program in Laguna Pueblo, bringing hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) activities to local children. To help us plan effectively, we need to know if parents are interested in having their child participate. Your input will help determine how long and how often the program will run, as it will be based on attendance and participation levels. If there is strong interest, we can tailor the program to better meet the needs of the community and maximize the benefit for your children.

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) is a nationally recognized mentoring program that pairs children (called “Littles”) with caring adult volunteers (“Bigs”) to build supportive, one-on-one relationships. The goal is to help children grow in confidence, improve school performance, and develop strong social and emotional skills. Mentors and children typically meet a few times a month for activities like playing sports, doing homework, or exploring shared interests. BBBS carefully screens and trains volunteers, and staff regularly check in to support the match. If you're looking for a safe, positive influence to help guide and encourage your child, BBBS could be a great fit.
